Grimes Cemetery, Angelina County, Texas, was photographed August 31, 2016 by Sandra Britnell & her brother Bob. Each individual headstone was digitally photographed; pictures from this cemetery are available upon request.

Directions: From Diboll, TX on US 59 south of Lufkin, go east on FM 1818 about 8 and a quarter miles, and turn right on County Rd. 266. Follow this road south til it ends; about 4 and a half miles, to the cemetery.

Grimes cemetery seems to be so far back in the woods as to be at the end of the earth; we saw no traffic except a number of logging trucks and the loggers who were busy loading them. A lot of graves without headstones are marked with the small metal funeral home markers; those markers are identified by the abbreviation "FHM".

NOTE 2: The only reference to "Anderson's Regiment, Texas Cavalry" indicates that Anderson's Regt was also known as "Border's Regiment". The Regimental records for Anderson's Regt for the month of January, 1865 shows "D. Grimes, absent sick". There are no other records for him, and no roster has been found for his company.
