Gilbert Chapel Cemetery
GILBERT CHAPEL CEMETERY, (sometimes referred to as "Bald Hill" Cemetery) Angelina County, Texas was photographed April 6, 2016 by Bob Britnell and sister Sandra Britnell. This is a small cemetery of about 50 burials and doesn't appear to be very old; all headstones are clean and very legible.
DIRECTIONS: from Lufkin, take US69 toward Huntington about 4 miles, and turn right on FM326. Go another 4 miles (just past Bald Hill Baptist Church) to the cemetery on the right.
Each headstone was photographed; copies of digital pictures are available, free, to anyone who wants them.

NOTE 1: PR1- originally the abbreviation for a Parachute Rigger, Petty Officer First Class (paygrade E-6). The rating was renamed "Aircrew Survival Equipmentman" around 1965 to better define the duties of the rating. PRs are responsible for keeping parachutes, life rafts, personal flight gear and other aviation survival gear in proper working condition. In addition to packing parachutes, PRs are required to periodically jump from aircraft using a parachute they have packed.
NOTE 2: Served in "A" Battery, 37th F.A. Bn. Killed In Action shortly after his 20th birthday.
