GETHSEMANE Cemetery, San Augustine County, Texas, was photographed and transcribed on Feb. 19, 2011. Gethsemane is an African-American cemetery.
This is an almost-abandoned cemetery, overgrown with tall weeds, but with some signs of occasional visits.  It's located on a narrow dirt and partly-gravelled road far back in the deep woods with little sign of human habitation. About half-a-mile up the road is the old Rocky Mount Baptist Church and cemetery, which has also been transcribed and photographed.
DIRECTIONS:  From Hwy 21 at Denning, go north on FM 354 a little more than 5 miles, and go right on CR 203, almost 2 miles (past Rocky Mount Baptist Church).  The cemetery is on the right; the dirt driveway is in bad shape, and there is one hole in the ground that appears to reach China.
The abbreviation "FHM" indicates a metal funeral home marker.   (Photo) indicates the headstone includes a photograph.
